OUR SERVICES

Many union members are unaware they have access to comprehensive resources that can improve the quality of their lives. Union EAP provides unlimited 365/24/7 access to Care Coordinators trained to respond to emotional and mental health crises and distress, assess mental health and substance use disorders, connect with high-quality treatment providers, and access legal and financial assistance.

This is a free, no-cost benefit to eligible members and their families (everyone living in the member's home) offered to you by your union. Please call us. You are not alone, and we are here to help. But we can only help if you reach out.

Availability and Accessibility

Union EAP is committed to assisting Members with various behavioral health needs that may arise within their work or personal lives. Union EAP Care Coordinators ("Providers") are available via telephone to assist employees 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. All Members have unlimited access to Union EAP Providers 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.

Union EAP provides toll-free communication lines that are promptly answered with an available Provider to assist Members with their mental and/or behavioral health needs, including crisis, distress, and critical incident response.


Plan Coverage, Assessment and Referral Service

Union EAP Providers are licensed, license eligible, or certified behavioral health professionals trained to assess the needs of the Member via telephone and provide the applicable resources. Union EAP's goal is to assess the presenting concerns, resolve them if possible, and/or develop an ongoing care plan when covered, to other professionals who are not covered by the through their health care plan. Union EAP assists in implementing the plan. Union EAP Providers will continue to assist the Member until their issues or needs have been satisfactorily resolved.

Union EAP Provider referrals to appropriate professionals are typically made within 48 hours of the initial call requesting Services. In an emergency situation, referrals are made immediately to community emergency services or other appropriate resources.

Union EAP Providers will provide mental health referrals to professionals who work with each Member within the parameters of the Union or other options that may not be covered by said plan. Any co-pays, deductibles, or cancellations are the responsibility of the Member.


Mental Health and Substance Use Services

Substance Use Disorders/Mental Health Screen:

This Service will work with members struggling with substance use disorders and other mental health issues by providing services including, but not limited to conducting thorough screenings and assessments; determining necessary level of care required; coordination and referral to pre-screened and evidence-based substance use detox and treatment centers and other mental health facilities.

Post-Treatment Monitoring:

This Service will assist Members with choosing a substance use or other mental health monitoring program that will work best for their individualized needs. The fees for a continuing monitoring program are the responsibility of the Member unless your organization chooses to cover the fees.

Mental Health Counseling:

This Service assists Members in finding pre-qualified licensed clinicians that are covered under their current insurance if available for individual, couples, and family counseling. All sessions may not be covered or qualify under individual insurance plans, and it will be the responsibility of the Member to cover any outstanding charges in these cases.

Testing (Mental Health/Diagnostic):

This Service will assist Members with arranging evaluations or diagnostic testing related to learning disorders developmental delays, and congenital and/organic disorders; psychological and/or IQ testing.

Psychiatric:

This Service will assist Members schedule services related to medication management or medication consultation with a psychiatrist. This program will also assist members with attaining medical level evaluations such as fitness for duty evaluations and threat of violence evaluations.

Note: Special evaluations required by the Department of Transportation (DOT) and affiliated agencies for services provided by Substance Abuse Professionals (SAP) who are providers certified by the DOT who specialize in chemical dependency evaluations who are required by the DOT to conduct all assessments on employees in safety sensitive positions, are not covered by Union EAP.


Work/Life Services

Union EAP will assist Members and their family members in finding helpful resources and giving referrals to qualified professionals for the following.

Legal Consultation:

This program assists Members and their family members who are dealing with legal issues in finding resources and giving referrals to qualified legal professionals who can best meet their individual needs.

Financial Services Consultation:

This program assists Members and their family members in finding resources to assist with budgeting, debt management, bankruptcy prevention, credit issues, and other similar financial issues.

Childcare and Eldercare Consultation and Referral:

This program assists Members in finding local resources that can help them address issues of childcare and supporting elderly parents or relatives.
